Studio Sessions

In-person colour analysis

The full draping experience — a trained consultant, physical fabric swatches, and natural light. Many clients describe it as one of the most revelatory sessions they've ever had.

The draping experience

In-person colour analysis centres on the draping process — the consultant placing fabric swatches of various colours near your face and observing the effect each has on your skin, eyes, and overall appearance. The difference between a colour that works and one that doesn't is often immediately visible: the wrong shade can cast shadows, emphasise redness or sallowness, and dull your complexion. The right shade does the opposite.

Sessions typically take place in studios with good natural light, often supplemented by daylight-balanced artificial lighting to ensure consistency. Most last between 60 and 120 minutes.

How to prepare

  • Arrive with a bare or minimal face — no foundation, blush, or strong lip colour
  • Wear a neutral top in white, grey, or black that won't distract from the draping
  • Tie back your hair if possible
  • Avoid heavy jewellery near the face
  • Bring an open mind — your season may surprise you

What you receive

Most Australian in-person sessions include a physical colour swatch fan containing your personal palette — typically 30 to 50 swatches you can take shopping. Many consultants also provide written guidance on applying your palette to clothing, makeup, hair colour, and accessories.

Finding a consultant near you

Active in-person colour analysis studios operate in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and beyond. Pricing typically ranges from $200 to $490 AUD for a full in-person session, with some premium studios charging more for extended services.
